Common Name:- Asian pigeonwings, Bluebellvine, Blue pea, Butterfly pea, Cordofan pea or Darwin pea, Shankupushpam, Girikarnika, Vishnukrantha and Gokurna Clitoria ternatea, is a plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae, endemic and native to the Indonesian island of Ternate. In India, it is revered as a holy flower, used in daily puja rituals The Aparajita flower has a paramount place in Indian mythology and Ayurveda. This perennial creeper is considered sacred and has great relevance related to Lord Vishnu. The Aparajita flower is said to be among the favorite sacred flowers of Maa Durga. It’s said so because Aparajita is another name for Maa Durga, which means the one no one can defeat. Similar that the plant can cure many diseases and it cannot be defeated by any of the diseases. This flower is quite sacred for the Durga goddess worshippers. This flower is also offered to the lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. The plant grows as a vine, doing best in moist soil. It is grown as an ornamental plant and also grown as a revegetation plant. This plant does require too much water as the soil has enough moisture. The plant needs five to six hours of sunlight. Soils with good water retention work best for the plant.
